    “Le judaïsme, et à sa suite le christianisme puis l’islam, est souvent considéré comme le berceau du monothéisme. Mais est-ce vraiment le cas ? Le monothéisme n’est-il pas apparu plus tôt ? A contrario, la Bible est-elle réellement monothéiste ? Que nous apprennent les plus anciens manuscrits ?”

    Je me suis souvent posé la question à propos d’hénothéisme, monolâtrie et monothéisme du peuple hébreu. Les anciens Hébreux étaient-ils hénothéistes, voire monolâtres ? Il semblerait que la seconde hypothèse soit la bonne, néanmoins il est probable que leur conscience religieuse ait expérimenté toutes les étapes pour aboutir au monothéisme : polythéisme -> hénothéisme -> monolâtrie -> monothéisme.

    Une réflexion m’était venue lorsque je vivais en terre d’Arabie, à propos du très long séjour de Moïse au pays de Madian, auprès de Jethro et la figure “mystérieuse” de son dieu local Rawel (patronyme étrange qui semble associer Râ égyptien + El sémite) au sommet du panthéon des divinités madianites. Bref, j’aime divaguer à mes heures 🙂
