I will be in Groningen on 25 February 2019 for a project on digital palaeography applied to the Dead Sea scrolls.
This project is headed by my colleague Mladen Popović, who currently serves as dean of the University of Groningen’s Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies. He received funding by the European Research Council for a project entitled “The Hands that Wrote the Bible.”
The purpose is to identify scribal hands in the Dead Sea scrolls using Monk, an artificial intelligence software for handwriting identification developed by his colleague Lambert Schomaker.
I’m looking forward to seeing the result! 😉
