On June 3, 2010, I received the “Habilitation to Supervise Research” Degree, which enables me — for example — to direct Doctoral (PhD) students.
During the public defence, I presented new unpublished studies in philology, epigraphy, and textual history of Joshua 10, prepared under the supervision of Thomas Römer, Professor at the College of France.
The jury was presided by André Lemaire, Director of Studies at EPHE — Sorbonne, Department of Historical and Philological Sciences, Chair of Hebrew and Aramaic Philology and Epigraphy. Three international scholars had also been invited as members of the jury: Michaela Bauks (Professor at the University of Koblenz), Diana Edelman (Professor at the University of Sheffield), and Hans-Peter Mathys (Professor at the University of Basel).
Here is the conclusion of the report given by the jury:
Après une brève délibération durant laquelle tous les membres du jury reconnaissent l’excellence du candidat et l’importance de son approche méthodologique pour l’avenir des études philologiques et épigraphiques hébraïques et araméennes anciennes, le président proclame M. Michael LANGLOIS officiellement habilité à diriger des recherches.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to Thomas Römer, André Lemaire, and all jury members for their support and precious advices!
Congratulations! Good job!
