France 2

“Mag Bible”, a bimonthly program on French national television “France 2,” asked me if they could come to Strasbourg and find out about my teaching and research activities. I gladly agreed and welcomed them to my classes!

The show will be aired on Sunday, December 12, at 10:00 AM on France 2.

I wish to thank the production team, who thought of me for this subject, and Philippe Chazot, who directed this program.
See you on December 12! ;-)

Qumran

On the occasion of the Qumran exhibition at the National Library, I answered Laurent Héricher’s questions on the Dead Sea Scrolls and their contribution to our knowledge of the Bible and ancient Judaism.

He notably asked me about the variant readings that are attested among biblical manuscripts, the popularity of some books that are called “apocrypha” and “pseudepigrapha” (such as the book of Enoch or Jubilees), and the notion of “canon” of Scriptures. This filmed interview is an integral part of the exhibition, so as to be viewed by all visitors, but you can watch it here in its entirety:

On the occasion of the “Bible, Heritage of Mankind” exhibition, recently inaugurated at the UNESCO, I answered Bernard Coyault’s questions on the textual history of the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) and the comparison of ancient biblical manuscripts and versions (the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Old Greek version called Septuagint, and so on).

This filmed interview is an integral part of the exhibition and, as such, will be viewed by all visitors interested in the Bible, its history, and its transmission. Here is the video: Read the rest of this entry »
